How groups use the books.

  • Read, then play.

One chapter aloud, then the chapter's Mission at a real board. Ten minutes each.

  • Borrow the words.

The King panics, the Knights won't sit still, the Queen waits. Children can point to a piece instead of finding a word for a big feeling.

  • Practise the Reset.

The same five steps appear in every book, word for word, so a group can use them at any table.

In every book

The Calm Reset, five steps at any table.

Children practise it in the story, then at a real board. Predictable steps, repeated word for word, so nobody has to remember something new when the room gets loud.

Stories, not treatment. The books are stories that families, teachers and therapists use to start conversations and practise calm habits. They aren't a treatment, and they don't replace the support around a child.

The Calm Reset

Pause. Breathe. Think. Then move.

  1. Touch the edge of the board
  2. One slow breath
  3. Notice three things
  4. Whisper "continue"
  5. Make a good move
